Post bifurcation, Andhra Pradesh government will organise theatrical plays as part of Nandi Natakotsavam-2013 and 2014 at Sri Venkateswara Anam Kalakendram in Rajahmundry. The event will commence on Saturday and continue till June 1.
More than 2,500 artistes from 84 nataka samajams from the two Telugu-speaking states will enthral people of Rajahmundry. The renovated, fully furnished and air-conditioned Anam Kalakendram is wears a grand look to host the theatrical extravaganza.
Of 0the 193 entries received for Nandi Theatre Awards for 2013, the Hyderabad-based Andhra Pradesh State Film TV & Theatre Development Corporation Limited has selected 41 theatrical plays and for 2014, it has selected 43 of the total 204.
According to N.V. Ramana Reddy, Managing Director of the Corporation, 66 Nandi Theatre Awards would be given for each of the two years in four categories— padya natakam , social play, social play-let and children’s social play-lets. Cash awards to the tune of Rs.14 lakh would also be given to the winners.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will present the awards in the valedictory session on June 1.

Meanwhile, the artistes walked in a rally from Kotipalli bus stand to Kotagummam centre . Dressed in diverse attire they enthralled the onlookers with their performances. Rajahmundry MP M. Muralimohan, Rajahmundry rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, city MLA Akula Satyanarayana, Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh State Film TV & Theatre Development Corporation Limited N.V Ramana Reddy and DPRO M. Francis were among the participants.
